How Does it Work?

Laser hair removal requires the use a diode laser which operates by emitting a pulse or pulses of infrared light that passes through normal skin and is absorbed by melanin ( colour of your hair ) in the hair follicle, or root. Here it produces heat which destroys the hair, and then after enough treatments that follicle will no longer produce growth. There are a very small percentage of people whose hair does not respond to the laser treatments; also your success rate depends on how well you follow the treatment plan laid out for you by our Laser Technician.

Where Do You Start?

Email or give us a call when you are ready to book your free Complimentary Consultation.

How to Prepare for Your Consultation?

Before you come for your consultation there has to be visible hair growth.  Please do not expose the areas you wish to have laser done to the sun or sun beds for at least 2 weeks prior to your consultation. Do not tweeze, wax for at least 3 weeks and also if you shave there should be about a quarter of an inch of growth showing. This growth allows the Laser Tech to be able set up the machine and do a test patch to insure you will not have a reaction before you have the first full treatment.

What to Expect During Your Consultation?

Consultations are up to 30 minutes long which gives enough time to fully discuss the treatment, go through any forms or health contraindications, have any of your questions answered and to have a test patch done.

After the consultation you will be required to wait 48 hours to be sure there is no reactions before your treatment.

What Do the Treatments Cost?

Each body area has a specific cost associated with it, please find a full list of our prices here. If you are unsure which area applies to what you are looking for or if you have any questions regarding the prices, the Laser Technician will answer these during your Complimentary Consultation or please feel free to contact one of our Spa Coordinators by calling your Sanctuary Day Spas location.

How Many Treatments?

This question depends on many factors, the area being treated, hormones, if there is an imbalance, the contrast between the hair colour and skin colour. Generally about 6-8 treatments will significantly reduce hair growth, after the 6th treatment you are on touch up mode for that area.

When Can You Start Having Laser Done or is There an Age Limit?

Clients must be 16 years or older and if you are under 18 we do need to have a parent or guardian accompany you to the consultation and sign your consent form.

Who Cannot Have Laser Done?

We will not perform laser services if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive. You should also avoid sun exposure for 4 weeks before and after treatment. Sun exposure makes laser hair removal less effective and makes complications after treatment more likely. There are also certain conditions and medications that will not allow us to perform laser treatments on you.

Why go to Sanctuary Day Spas?

We have been doing laser treatments for over 15 years. Our Laser Techs have had their training by Trainers that specifically teach them with the laser machine we use.  They are required to complete extensive practice before they are certified.
